BCD Group Sprint (NZ) Form Guide & Tips
1. Callsign Mav ($51)
The old campaigner is well below his best and we expect him to struggle against this field on Saturday.
2. Dragon Leap ($11)
Better for two runs back from a spell and heās not the worst first-four inclusion at the odds.
Heās a two-time winner at Te Rapa, which is another positive.
3. Waitak (Best Each Way – $5)
He won the Railway Stakes with a massive burst of speed through the middle of the field.
That performance stuck in the minds of most punters, and his turn has turned around emphatically this preparation.
Include him at the price.
4. Habana ($26)
Not the most consistent type going around, so we canāt include him in selections.
He might need something easier.
5. Iffndoubtgetout ($35)
Two wins already this campaign, but they werenāt at this level.
We canāt see him figuring in the finish with an inexperienced jockey at this level in the saddle.
6. Bonny Lass ($11)
She has been a model of consistency, so the odds are juicy enough to include her.
Bonny Lass owns six wins and eight placings from 18 starts, which is an excellent record, and she only needs luck from the draw.
7. Faraglioni ($13)
Heavily backed at Ellerslie last start when settling for another placing.
Consistent, but lacks the turn-of-foot needed to beat this field.
8. Malt Time ($51)
Not too far away at times this season, but we canāt see her figuring in the finish.
9. Imprevu ($67)
Scored back-to-back wins earlier this preparation, but against easier company.
We expect her to struggle at the Group 1 level, and thatās reflected in horse racing betting markets.
10. Imwonderfultonight (Best Roughie – $26)
A winner fresh up and she has been right around the mark in all subsequent runs.
Punters get better odds than expected, and sheās good enough to sit handy and kick on gamely.
11. Crocetti (Best Bet – $1.90)
Unbeaten after seven starts and he is a real up-and-coming star in New Zealand.
The three-year-old faces his toughest test to date, but heās bomb proof, and he has been confidently backed after opening at $2.30.
Barrier two could be more perfect for him.
12. Solidify ($51)
He looked good at times last season and was considered good enough to go to Australia.
His form has tapered off, hence the big odds.
13. Quintessa ($7.50)
Four wins and two second placings from six starts, so she canāt be overlooked at each-way odds.
Getting down in the weights at 53.5kg makes her a worth inclusion.
