We have expert horse racing tips for the cards this Saturday in New Zealand, featuring racing at Riccarton and Otaki.
There is plenty of value available with bookmakers at the NZ meetings and we have our best bets across the two cards.
Riccarton racing tips
—
Race 1. (10:10) Rohan Mudhoo Fundraising Maiden (1200m)
#2 â Time is King @ $4.20
Time is King ran well for third fresh up at Matamata, and coming south should see his form improve.
The three-year-old gelding by Darci Brahma doesnât have the best form lines at face value, but this is an easier contest.
Weâre taking the each-way odds available.
Race 3. (11:20) Angus Meats Handicap (1200m)
#1 â Our Echo @ $6.00
Our Echo has been in excellent form this season, including consecutive wins at Wingatui and Trentham.
The seven-year-old son of Echoes of Heaven has had 18 starts at Riccarton for a win and eight placings, which is excellent.
Getting 3kg off his back should take him close.
Race 5. (12:41) David Emerson Consultant BM75 (2000m)
#2 â Aristocrat @ $5.00
Aristocrat couldnât have been more impressive winning at Riccarton Park twice earlier this preparation.
Heâs a course specialist, and although drawing barrier 13 works against him, he has time to find cover.
Having the experience of Matt Cameron in the saddle could make all the difference.
Race 5. (13:16) NZB Insurance Stakes (1600m)
#1 â Nepheti @ $3.90
Nepheti owns three wins from six starts, so punters have cashed in with the three-year-old filly.
She is a well-bred daughter of Charm Spirit, who won at Ellerslie last time out, and thatâs excellent form in the south.
We thought she would be shorter in the betting, so weâre taking the $3.90.
Otaki racing tips
—
Race 1. (11:00) The Tele Otaki Maiden (1600m)
#4 â Coney Island @ $5.00
Coney Island turned his form around when finishing second at Tauherenikau last time out.
The four-year-old son of Sacred Falls wasnât far behind a nice type at big odds, and weâre not surprised by the shorter odds here.
Take the each-way offerings from bookmakers.
Race 2. (11:35) McMillan Equine Feeds 2YO (1300m)
#1 â Ballon Dâor @ $2.00
Ballon Dâor finished third on debut at Otaki, and having track experience should help the youngster.
The two-year-old gelding by US Navy Flag gets an in-form rider in the saddle, and getting even-money odds was expected.
Take the odds before he firms into an odds-on price.
Race 3. (12:13) Harcourts Otaki BM65 (1200m)
#1 â Platinum Designs @ $6.00
Platinum Designs owns two wins from his last three starts, so he has hit form at the right time.
The three-year-old gelding by US Navy Flag won at Otaki three starts back by a half-length, which is a good form guide.
Carrying a big weight isnât easy, but he has upside.
Race 5. (13:24) Cavallo Farms Handicap (1600m)
#7 â Contribute @ $3.00
Contribute is a proven five-time winner from 21 starts, and he should handle racing at Otaki for the first time.
The six-year-old mare by Contributer doesnât know how to run a bad race, so punters should entertain his odds.
We expect his odds to firm on race day.
