Trentham racing tips
—
Race 1. (10:15) The Oaks Stud 3YO (1200m)
#1 ā Platinum Attack @ $4.20
Platinum Attack comes off three consecutive wins and they have all been impressive.
The Lisa Latta-trained gelding won at Trentham last start against a similar field, so thereās no reason to jump off his back.
The each-way odds are well worth snapping up.
Race 2. (10:50) Resonant BM75 (1200m)
#4 ā Lord Donovan @ $7.50
Lord Donovan showed his class last preparation, and although yet to win this time in, heās classy.
The John Wheeler-trained sprinter has yet to fire in three runs at Trentham, but heās a much better horse than he used to be.
With Michael McNab riding, we expect him to be tough to beat.
Race 4. (12:04) Higgins Concrete Manawatu Classic (2100m)
#1 ā Just as Sharp @ $2.30
Just as Sharp owns three wins and three placings from nine starts, and he comes off a fourth in the New Zealand Derby behind Orchestral.
That form has been franked with a Group 1 win in Australia, and dropping to 2100m only helps his cause.
Heās the class runner of this field.
Race 5. (12:46) Martin Collins Manawatu Breedersā Stakes (2100m)
#8 ā Diss is Dramatic @ $3.80
Looking for consecutive wins is Diss is Dramatic, who was too tough for them in heavy conditions at Tauranga.
Sheās a past winner at Trentham, and it could be a big day for ownership group Go Racing, who own the favourite in the Group 1 feature.
Money is coming for her, which isnāt surprising.
Race 7. (13:56) Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) – GROUP 1

Pukekohe racing tips
—
Race 1. (10:30) Stella Artois 3YO (1600m)
#5 ā Ethereal Star @ $2.80
Ethereal Star is long overdue a win, and sheās much better than a one-win filly.
The daughter of Snitzel runs her best races at Pukekohe with four starts for a win and two second placings.
This is her race to win, and sheās our top pick.
Race 3. (11:40) Shawās Wire Ropes Maiden (1600m)
#3 ā Northeasterly @ $4.00
Northeasterly is better for his debut run where he finished second behind Rita Bonita.
Having that run under his belt is ideal, and the three-year-old son of The Autumn Sun can handle this field on Saturday.
Kozzi Asano is riding well, and punters get each-way odds.
Race 4. (12:17) Ellerslie Events BM65 (1600m)
#2 ā Hasstobeawinner @ $3.40
Hasstobeawinner has been around the mark throughout his career, including a win and six placings.
The four-year-old son of Vadamos didnāt handle the heavy conditions at Tauranga, and he was much better when placing at Ellerslie.
The odds are getting short, but heās worth backing.
Race 6. (13:29) Dunstan Horsefeeds Handicap (1300m)
#4 ā Rudyard @ $4.60
Rudyard is already a two-time winner this preparation, including two starts back at Ellerslie.
The four-year-old son of Charm Spirit is a five-time winner overall, and he doesnāt need to improve much to win this race.
Weāre happy to have him in our selections.
