Riccarton racing tips
—
Race 2. (10:44) Fiona Stuart Memorial Maiden (1600m)
#1 â Cherryville @ $4.20
Cherryville is knocking on the door after consecutive second placings at Wingatui, which is solid form.
The four-year-old son of Ghibellines doesnât have much to beat in this field, so the $4.20 odds are worth entertaining.
Include him in selections at those odds.
Race 3. (11:18) Alistair Gray Memorial Maiden (1400m)
#10 â Kindling Spark @ $3.90
Kindling Spark has been right around the mark in two starts, including a third on debut at Ashburton.
The three-year-old daughter of Manhattan Rain was only 1.9 lengths behind the winner last time out at Wingatui, so it was a good run in defeat.
Money is coming for her, so put her on top.
Race 5. (12:25) Rangiora Equine Services Maiden (1200m)
#1 â Shinto @ $4.60
Shinto bounced back to form when placing at Riccarton last start, and having form on the track is a bonus.
The four-year-old mare ran at big odds on that occasion, and she has since been spelled, so weâre expecting a nice return.
Seeing money come for her is encouraging.
Race 6. (13:00) GM Accounting & Consulting BM65 (1200m)
#10 â Superbly Written @ $3.50
Superbly Written won at Taupo earlier in her preparation, and she hasnât been too far away since.
The Te Akau-raced filly has class on her side, and she comes off a second placing behind Angels Wings at Riccarton.
The long straight should play right into her hands.

Te Rapa racing tips
—
Race 1. (10:25) Devan Plastics BM65 (1300m)
#5 â El Viento @ $4.60
El Viento comes off a win at his home track of Matamata, and he could bring that form to Te Rapa.
The Te Akau-raced gelding relished the rise in distance at 1400m, and although there is some concern about dropping to 1300m, he should handle it.
Opie Bosson rides, which is always a bonus.
Race 3. (11:35) Dr John Southworth Memorial Vase BM75 (1200m)
#3 â Insatiable @ $6
Insatiable kicked off his prep with consecutive wins, so weâre happy to stick with him.
The son of All Too Hard hasnât won in three runs since, but he comes off a third placing at Trentham behind a smart one.
Getting $6 for this trainer/jockey combo is too good to pass up.
Race 4. (12:10) David & Karyn Fenton Ellis Fillies Classic (2000m)
#1 â Molly Bloom @ $3.50
Molly Bloom didnât quite handle racing against the boys in the Karaka 3YO, but this race should be ideal for her.
She has recently been purchased by Australian interests, so she wonât be in New Zealand for long, and she could go out a winner.
Getting $3.50 is a generous price.
Race 5. (12:53) Peter Kelly Real Estate BM75 (2100m)
#2 â Mark Twain @ $4.80
Mark Twain has been running well this campaign without winning, but this could be his time to shine.
The four-year-old son of Shocking owns two wins from eight starts, and he was good enough to run in the ATC Derby.
He was going to need time to readjust, and nowâs his time to show up.
