Trentham racing tips

Race 1. (10:25) Jennian Homes Sires Prelude (1200m)
#1 – Altari @ $2.10
Altari was an impressive debut winner at Matamata, and it’s hard to back against the Te Akau stable.
They are firing on all cylinders, especially in the age-group ranks, and having Opie Bosson riding adds to his appeal.
He could be a colt with a bright future.
Race 2. (10:58) New Zealand Bloodstock Spec Maiden (1400m)
#8 – Sindee @ $2.40
Sindee gets the advantage of running in a special conditions maiden as a two-time winner, and she has a big future.
The three-year-old won on debut at Wanganui before winning again by just under a length. The form behind has stacked up, which is good to see.
She’s bred to be better than average, so take the odds.
Race 4. (12:09) The Bold One NZ St Leger (2600m)
#1 – The Underbelly @ $2.60
The Underbelly continues to show excellent staying form with four wins on the bounce, and he’s a cups chance next season.
He was too good for them at Otaki when scoring by four lengths over Mark Twain, who has since rattled home in the Auckland Cup.
The form lines are impressive, and carrying 55kg is ideal.
Race 6. (13:28) Wentwood Grange Cuddle Stakes (1600m)
#1 – Belclare @ $5.50
Belclare can be tough to follow at the best of times, but she loves running at Trentham.
She’s a two-time winner at the track and at the distance, and with 10 wins on her record overall, she has been a classy type.
We think he’s good enough to beat this field and sneak under the radar.
Race 8. (14:40) New Zealand Oaks (2400m) – GROUP 1

Race 1. (10:40) Waikato Owners Maiden (1200m)
#1 – Mr Mozart @ $3.90
Mr Mozart improved to finish second fresh up, and we fancy his chances to go one better.
It’s not the hardest maiden field we’ve ever seen, and he was only a half-length behind the winner on that occasion.
Barrier four adds to his appeal.
Race 2. (11:13) Gartshores Construction Maiden (1600m)
#7 – St Exquis @ $2.35
St Exquis has been close in two starts to date, including a third placing at Pukekohe last time out.
The three-year-old filly by Vadamos looks to have plenty of improvement on the cards, and this race is there for the taking.
Kelly Myers is in career-best form, so put her on top.
Race 4. (12:23) Bop Equine Vets Handicap (1400m)
#6 – Karman Line @ $3.80
Karman Line comes off a stakes win at Matamata, and there’s no reason to leave her out of selections.
The O’Sullivan/Scott-trained mare owns three wins and five placings, including a placing in the Karaka Million 3YO two years ago.
Getting the inside draw with a light weight helps.
Race 5. (13:00) Frocked Up Girls 3YO (1200m)
#1 – Naxos @ $4.40
Looking to remain unbeaten is Naxos, who won on debut at Tauranga as an $11.80 chance.
The three-year-old gelding by Harry Angel is in good hands, and the progeny of Harry Angel have been winning frequently.
We’re taking the each-way odds available.
