Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes Form Guide & Tips
(1) Savaglee (Best Roughie – $13.00)
We are giving Savaglee a good chance to win the Group 1, and he won his only start at Trentham.
Having winning form on the track is a bonus, and he has been right around the mark throughout his career, so take the big odds.
(2) Move to Strike ($9.00)
Only fair behind Savaglee last time out, so we’re not thrilled by the single-figure odds.
We’re happy to consider him as a first four chance, but there are better winning chances in this race.
(3) Full Force ($15.00)
Capped off consistent form with a win at Otaki, but this is a much harder task.
However, that win came at odds of $1.20, so there was plenty of confidence and the second placegetter was Sargeant Major, who has since won.
(4) Unbridled Joy ($23.00)
From the Te Akau stable and they can seemingly never be ruled out of contention.
Nothing wrong with his form, but we’re unsure if he’s up to this level at this stage of his career.
(5) Red Sea ($16.00)
A good last-start winner at Matamata, but he looks a level below the best in this race.
Look for any betting push, but we can’t see one coming.
(6) Sargeant Major ($10.00)
Second behind Full Force on debut before winning at Trentham in fine style.
There is solid betting support for this runner, which is interesting, so he could have something to say at the finish.
(7) Velocious (Best Bet – $2.70)
With four wins from five starts, she’s the class runner of the field and the worthy favourite.
She comes off an impressive win at Ellerslie when beating Archaic Smile, and that followed a Karaka Millions victory.
She’s versatile, and good enough to win again.
(8) Archaic Smile (Best Each Way – $6.50)
Archaic Smile finished second behind the top pick last start, and they could quinella the race again.
Trainer Tony Pike is confident with his filly, and she’s still figuring out the racing game, which is a scary thought.
She has ability and the odds are generous.
(9) Captured by Love ($3.90)
Third behind Velocious and Archaic Smile last start, and we’re not leaving her out.
She is a classy filly for Te Akau, having won her first four starts, and there is good betting support coming her way.
The $3.90 is short, but she’s an obvious trifecta inclusion.
(10) Lavender Haze ($61.00)
Named after a Taylor Swift song, but she hasn’t shown much swiftness on the track.
