NRL Round 20 Tips

Friday 14/7/23

8:00pm Newcastle Knights vs Wests Tigers @ McDonald Jones Stadium

We didn’t think the Knights would ever be –14.5 favourites, but they are playing well and the Tigers are not.

It should be a one-sided contest to kick off Round 20, especially if the Kayln Ponga play their best. He has been in fine form for the Knights, and the Tigers are leaking points.

Expect a comfortable home victory.

Betting tip: Knights –14.5 @ $1.90

Knights by 20

Knights vs Tigers – betr Same Game Multi

We’ve teamed up with betr to provide the GoBet Multi for the first game of every round of the 2023 NRL season.

Defence isn’t the forte of either team, so there should be plenty of points on offer at McDonald Jones Stadium. Punters should include the Knights –14.5 and the over total match points in their same game multi. We also like Ponga to score a try. He has been in fine form this year, and missing State of Origin has been the best thing for his club. Value odds are available for Ponga to score, so he should boost payouts.

Saturday 15/7/23

3:00pm Canterbury Bulldogs vs Brisbane Broncos @ Belmore Sports Ground

The Broncos aren’t as short in betting markets as expected, which is always a slight concern.

However, we don’t rate the Bulldogs much, who are sitting in 15th position on the NRL ladder. Therefore, the –6.5 line for the Broncos is worth taking.

Their Origin players should back up and play well.

Betting tip: Broncos –6.5 @ $1.90

5:30pm Manly Sea Eagles vs North Queensland Cowboys @ 4 Pines Park

The Cowboys endured a terrible start to the year, but they’re now one of the form teams in the competition.

They have been firing on all levels, and although the Sea Eagles are tough to beat at this venue, we expect the Cowboys to keep rolling.

Punters get them at $1.69, and that price could firm throughout the week.

Betting tip: Cowboys @ $1.69

7:35pm Sydney Roosters vs Melbourne Storm @ SCG

It’s now or never for the Roosters, who have been the big disappointment of 2023.

They need to beat Melbourne to have any chance of making the playoffs, but we just don’t think it’s going to happen for them.

The Storm are playing well, and despite playing at the SCG, the visitors should have too much in the tank for the injury-plagued Roosters, who are not clucking.

Betting tip: Storm –4.5 @ $1.90

Sunday 16/7/23

2:00pm New Zealand Warriors vs Cronulla Sharks @ Go Media Stadium

The Warriors face one of their toughest tests to date when taking on the Sharks in Auckland.

Cronulla is currently third on the ladder and will provide a stiff test for the Kiwi-based team, who thrashed the Eels last week.

There is an air of confidence around the Warriors, and because they will want to prove a point, we’re picking them to prevail.

Betting tip: Warriors @ $1.97

4:05pm Dolphins vs Penrith Panthers @ Kayo Stadium

The Dolphins scored a great comeback win against the Titans last Sunday, which should give them plenty of confidence.

However, they’re about to face the best team in the competition, and they are expected to struggle to keep the game close.

Penrith has been incredible, even through the Origin period. They are the –13.5 favourites, and it’s tough to bet against them.

Betting tip: Panthers –13.5 @ $1.90

6:15pm Parramatta Eels vs Gold Coast Titans @ CommBank Stadium

The Eels were smashed by the Warriors last week, but they played without their Origin stars.

They should be much better against the Titans, who were run down by the Dolphins at home last week, which wasn’t a good performance.

However, with +8.5 points in their favour, the Titans should have enough in the tank to keep it close.

Betting tip: Titans +8.5 @ $1.90
