State of Origin Game 3 Betting Predictions
The Maroons have been the dominant team so far and Game 2 wasn’t competitive, so the New South Wales Blues need to do some soul searching.
Queensland has a team that could win for the next 10 years, and the Blues have a team that needs some serious adjustments, and more youth into the side. As it stands, Queensland has the clear advantage and that should show up in Game 3 on Wednesday.
Despite playing on the road, the Maroons would love to complete the 3-0 sweep. They have lost dynamo Reece Walsh, but he’s replaced by Alex Brimson, so the quality is deep with the visitors.
We were surprised by the selections of the Blues, including Newcastle Knights back Bradman Best. Nothing against Best, but he’s not at the State of Origin level.
We welcomed the dropping of Jarome Luai, who isn’t the same player without Nathan Cleary beside him. He makes way for Cody Walker, who will at least give them a bit more toughness in the middle of the field.
The best value is with Queensland at $1.65. Playing on the road isn’t easy at Origin level, but they are the clearly superior team, and that should be evident. We also fancy Queensland –2.5, and we expect them to win by at least a try.
Bet: Queensland Maroons @ $1.65
State of Origin Game 3 First Try Scorer Tips
We would love to see Brimson score the first try for Queensland in his return match. He has been playing well for the Gold Coast Titans, and he never deserved to be dropped from the Maroons side.
However, with Walsh playing so well, he was forced out of the team. He could play with a chip on his shoulder, so we’re taking the $15 for Brimson to score first, and $3.40 to score at any time.
It should be an open game, which will give the backs plenty of chances to score.
Valentine Holmes is another excellent value bet for the Maroons. He has been in great try-scoring form, so the $2.95 to score at any time seems too good to be true.
He’s a powerful runner, and he scored an excellent try in Game 2, so look for him to repeat the dose.
For the Blues, look for Clint Gutherson to make an impact. He’s another recalled player, who has been in great scoring form in the NRL.
Bet: Alex Brimson @ $15
