PointsBet is one of the newest Australian-based bookmakers and itā€™s certainly one of the most unique.

Taking a new look on sports and horse racing betting, PointsBet offers all the traditional bookmaking options, but also offers spread betting.

Puntersā€™ winnings and losses depend on how correct your bet is. Itā€™s a completely new way of betting and it certainly ramps up the excitement and risk factor on your bets.

Below is an example, from PointsBetā€™s website, explaining how spread betting works.

PointsBet website design

The website design for PointsBet is completely different to most online bookmakers. The home page features all the ā€œfeatured marketsā€ and punters can scroll down the page for all the other top betting options.

All other options are found under the top left tab, which includes the likes of promos, sports and horse racing sections.

Itā€™s a unique way of site design and weā€™re not sure if itā€™s the most appealing for punters, but it has a sleek look and feel about it.

PointsBet gives up off the ā€œbad boyā€ image of the bookmaking world, with its black and red theme. Itā€™s a dark colour scheme but it works.

Promotions are clearly highlighted with a bright blue colour, which makes them stand out nicely among the odds and black colour.

To punters who arenā€™t familiar with the website, this design could be tough to keep track of. Thatā€™s the only negative but it performs on high levels and thereā€™s clearly some high-powered machines running the interface.

PointsBet Racing features

As the name suggests, PointsBet caters more towards sports betting, but they make up for it with good horse racing odds so are they are worth using when following our horse racing tips.

Better than average odds are suggested on most racing markets, which covers Australian, New Zealand and international horse racing. They cover thoroughbreds, harness and greyhound racing.

Tote and fixed odds betting is offered on separate pages and horse racing futures for races like the Melbourne Cup are in another section. All the big races are offered but there is limited options.

Overseas futures arenā€™t visible and thatā€™s a negative aspect of PointsBet.

PointsBet does offer Jockey Challenge markets, which are always popular with punters who like to back jockeys throughout the week. Jockey challenge markets are offered every day of the week.

Overall, the racing section is decent compared to other bookmakers. They could offer some better options, but the odds are competitive.

PointsBet sports betting features

The point of focus for PointsBet is their sports betting site. Itā€™s completely unique and gives punters another aspect into making money on sports betting.

They have all the usual sports betting options on offer, such as head-to-head, first try scorer and the 200+ options available at most bookmakers, but offering spread betting is something completely new.

Punters have the chance to win big when betting on the spread markets. As outlined above, bettors can outlay a small amount for a big return, depending on how much their team covers the spread by.

This means that even know the game result might be obvious, thereā€™s always money to be made or lost, right up until the final whistle.

Your winnings will depend on how much your team covers the spread. Punters can lose more money doing this (which is calculated by the user) but the potential for big winnings is incredible.

If you choose the Geelong Cats vs Adelaide Crows to score a total of 140 points and they score 200, your $10 bet returns big money. Itā€™s a great way to bet and is something new offered in the sports betting world.

There are plenty of normal betting options to select and the odds on offer are generous. PointsBetā€™s sports features are top class so they are worth using when following our NRL tips and AFL tips.

PointsBet customer service

PointsBet get a top rating in terms of customer service. They offer a live chat option, which is always a positive and they have multiple forms of communication.

Punters can email, live chat or call their hot line. Thereā€™s also a help section, which outlines all the popular questions punters might want to know about the website.

Customer service is a big aspect of any Australian bookmaker and PointsBet has spared no expense.

PointsBet mobile betting

PointsBet boasts an impressive mobile betting app for both Android and iPhone. Punters can go to the PointsBet website to find the download and they have instructions on how to install it.

They go the extra mile with their mobile betting service.
