Super Rugby Pacific Round 3 Tips
—
Friday 8/3/24
5:05pm Moana Pasifika vs Rebels @ FMG Stadium
Waikato hosts Moana Pasifika vs the Rebels this week, and it gives both teams a chance to win consecutive games.
The Pasifika looked good when beating the Drua last week, and they already look much better than what they showed in 2023.
Melbourne also improved out of sight, beating the Force 48-34, so it could be a high-scoring contest on Friday.
Given the odds for the home side, we’re picking them to win.
Betting tip: Moana Pasifika @ $2.56

7:35pm Waratahs vs Highlanders @ Allianz Stadium
The Waratahs come off their biggest Super Rugby win in recent history when beating the Crusaders 37-24.
That should see their confidence levels rise significantly, especially with their tapered expectations pre-season.
The Highlanders were tough to beat last week, but the Blues had their measure. They are the worst of the Kiwi teams, so the Waratahs should fancy their chances.
Betting tip: Waratahs –4.5 @ $1.90

Saturday 9/3/24
12:05pm Fijian Drua vs Crusaders @ Churchill Park
The Drua had every chance to get a win over Pasifika last week, but they didn’t take their opportunities.
They now face a desperate Crusaders team, who are 0-2 after losing to the Chiefs and Waratahs. However, it’s only a matter of time before they win.
Playing for a new coach can take time, and given the current line of –7.5, we can’t turn down the value for the visitors.
Punters should expect the Crusaders to win comfortably.
Betting tip: Crusaders –7.5 @ $1.90

2:35pm Brumbies vs Force @ GIO Stadium
We don’t have much hope for the Force in 2024, and this should be an easy victory for the Brumbies.
They come off a 46-12 loss to the Chiefs, which was a terrible effort, but the Force were beaten by the Rebels, which is even worse.
There are much higher expectations with the Brumbies, who looked much better in the opening week when beating the Rebels 30-3.
That form should be good enough to put a big number on the Force.
Betting tip: Brumbies –17.5 @ $1.90
Brumbies by 21
5:05pm Hurricanes vs Blues @ Wellington Regional Stadium
The Hurricanes were too good for the Reds in overtime last week, which should give them plenty of confidence.
However, there are higher expectations with the Blues, who played well enough to beat the Highlanders last week.
There isn’t much between them in betting markets, with the Blues at –2.5, and that’s a fair line for the New Zealand battle.
We’re locking in the Blues to come away with the victory.
Betting tip: Blues –2.5 @ $1.90
Blues by 7
7:35pm Reds vs Chiefs @ Suncorp Stadium
The Chiefs are unbeaten after two games, including a 46-12 thumping of the Brumbies last week.
They defeated the Crusaders in the opening week as well, so the form checks out well against the Reds, who lost to the Hurricanes.
There is potential with the Reds, but facing New Zealand’s best side could make it difficult to keep it close on Saturday night.
Betting tip: Chiefs –9.5 @ $1.90
Chiefs by 12
