We cover every Super Rugby Pacific game throughout the year.

Super Rugby Pacific Semi Finals Tips

Friday 16/6/23

5:05pm Crusaders vs Blues @ Orangetheory Stadium

We can’t wait for the Crusaders vs Blues, which is the all-New Zealand semifinal punters were hoping for, and it should come under fine conditions in the Waikato.

It has been a long rivalry, which the Crusaders have been more successful at in recent history, and they are the $1.54 favourites to win.

Coach Scott Robinson doesn’t want to end his tenure with a loss to the Blues, and the Crusaders always play better when everything is on the line.

They come off an impressive 49-8 quarterfinal win over the Fijian Drua, which was expected, but they turned on the jets to score some impressive tries. However, the Blues were arguably more impressive when beating the Waratahs.

The Blues won 41-12 at home against the Waratahs, who were outclassed from the outset. It has been a tidy season for the Auckland-based franchise, who would love to get a rare win over the Crusaders in Christchurch.

It’s a tough game to predict, but we’re taking the Crusaders –3.5. We expect them to perform best at home, and they have the class edge.

Betting tip: Crusaders –3.5 @ $1.92

5:05pm Chiefs vs Brumbies @ FMG Stadium

The Chiefs have been the best team in the Super Rugby competition from the outset, so we’re not surprised by the odds available.

They are $1.17 to win outright against the Brumbies, and –11.5 in points spread markets, following a 29-20 win over the Reds last week.

It was a tough battle for the Chiefs, who were slightly below their best, but the Reds are the only team to have given them strife this year.

The Brumbies scored a controversial win over the Hurricanes, and although it looked like the Hurricanes scored to win in added time, the Brumbies held on 37-33.

It was good to see some points flow for the Brumbies, who haven’t always been the best attacking side, but they’ll need to be even better against this Chiefs defence, which knows how to knuckle down and limit points.

Playing at home is another positive for the Chiefs, who have a sold-out crowd behind them. They have been excellent at home, and with only one loss all season, it’s hard to bet against the favourites.

We expect the Chiefs to be far too good for the Brumbies, and although it’s hard to lay –11.5 points in a semifinal, the Chiefs could pile on the points early and never give the Brumbies a chance of getting into the contest.

Betting tip: Chiefs –11.5 @ $1.90
